Our Story: A Legacy of Healing in Staunton
The corporate physical therapy model relies on speed—stacking appointments, double-booking schedules, and handing your care off to rotating assistants. At Body Ease Physical Therapy, we believe your recovery deserves a different environment.
Our practice blends decades of trusted local clinical experience with an unhurried, one-on-one approach to healing, all within a setting designed to make you feel comfortable the moment you arrive.
Rooted in the Community Since 1987
The foundation of Body Ease was built on a simple commitment: providing deeply personalized, patient-first care to our neighbors in the Shenandoah Valley.
The practice was originally founded in 1987 by Bev Sweetman, PT, right here in Staunton. Over the years, Bev built a reputation for excellence, treating generations of families who knew they could count on her for compassionate, highly skilled care.
In 2000, I joined Bev at Body Ease. For over a decade, we worked side-by-side, sharing a clinical philosophy focused on treating the whole person rather than just a symptom on a chart. When Bev retired in 2011, taking over the practice was a natural step. I committed myself to carrying her legacy forward, keeping patient care at the center of everything we do.
A Pure Focus on Dedicated, One-on-One Care
As the healthcare landscape grew more corporate and fast-paced, I expanded the practice for a time, opening a second office in Lexington. But over the years, I realized that managing multiple locations and a large administrative footprint pulled me away from what matters most: sitting with my patients, working with my hands, and guiding individual transformations.
Recently, I made the intentional decision to return Body Ease to its purest, most impactful form. I sold the Lexington location to a trusted longtime colleague, allowing me to return fully to our original home in Staunton as a sole practitioner.
Today, when you walk through our doors, you work with me, Robert Miller, PT, every single step of the way. There are no hand-offs, no divided attention, and no rushed timelines. You get my full focus, clinical expertise, and undivided attention for the entirety of your session.
Healing in a Historic Setting
We believe that the environment where you heal matters just as much as the therapy itself. Body Ease is located inside a beautiful, 200-year-old historic farmhouse in Staunton.
Far removed from the cold, sterile, brightly lit atmosphere of a standard hospital or commercial clinic, our farmhouse space offers a warm, peaceful, and private sanctuary. Complete with original architectural charm and our private, indoor 91°F therapeutic pool, it is an inviting space designed to help your body and mind relax so you can focus entirely on getting better.
Whether you are trying to manage chronic arthritis pain, recovering from a major joint surgery, or looking to restore the activities you love, you are stepping into a legacy of care that has supported this community for nearly forty years.
I look forward to being a part of your recovery journey.
